Ledge

The newest eatery to open in Lower Dot, it offers another upscale dining option to the neighborhood. Erin had the broiled crab cakes on top of mixed greens which were large and tasty and accompanied by a strong mustard aioli. Chris had the hanger steak with caramelized shallot blue cheese butter sauce and a side of sweet potato fries and herbed orzo. The sauce was an excellent compliment to the well-cooked steak's flavor. We did not have the most desirable seats, right next to the crowded bar, but this is expected when a restaurant first opens. The restaurant interior is hip and modern, and the many televisions in the bar area are almost overwhelming. It would be a great place to catch a Sox playoff game. The back patio is large and offers a separate bar, we can't wait to go back an enjoy it on a warm fall evening.

I met the owner while getting a haircut next door to Ledge. Nice guy. The lady barber cutting my hair raved about the renovations. You've confirmed her review and his description of the menu. We'll be stopping by soon. Hopefully this will become a neighborhood fixture. Best of luck to them.

Been there a couple of times and love the atmosphere. Most of the food is very good, as I am sure they are tweaking the menu to accomodate consumer comments. Having elderly parents nearby, I hope they add a revised lunch menu to offer lighter dishes (soup or salad & 1/2 sandwich for a reduced price to meet their often limited resources). There are so many seniors around there, I think that will be a welcome place for them.

We went on Saturday night. It's a great atmosphere and the food was good but both our dishes (lobster pizza and arancini) were cold- room temp. They took a while to get to us too so our guess is that they forgot to deliver them when they were first ready (and warm)

We'll go back because I do think it has potential and the food was good other than the temp... but I am hoping for some improvement next time.

Been here twice now --

Great beer selection, the caesar is very solid, and the honey chicken wings too. The friend I was with raved about his chowder.

Perhaps best of all has been the service. The bartender Chris at the main bar is a really friendly guy, and a very quick server.

Just got to the patio out back my second visit; it's really sweet, even bigger/more tranquil than the Ashmont Grill's.

Nice people run the place, and I'm glad it's there, but the food, drink and service need a lot of work. No, they don't have a great beer selection. The best and most adventurous beers on the selection were Harpoon IPA and Guinness. On opening night the Guinness had a nice white head and was great when pulled correctly (some barmaids had no clue). Since then it has gotten brownish. I hope they clean the beer lines thoroughly. Overall, the place caters to the OFD crowd and leaves the DBC crowd heading elsewhere. I'd give the place a C- so far. Sorry!

Ledge is a huge disappointment. The dinners I've eaten there were just awful. For example: (1) the roasted half chicken was inedible & had to be sent back; (2) the mac-n-cheese [which I thought would be a safe choice] was a greasy, slimy mess by the time it hit the table because the sauce had separated. The kitchen's definitely got a lot of improving to do. 88 Wharf, which is terrific, raised my expectations about local dining, but sadly, Ledge falls far short of the standard set by them. Here's to hoping Ledge figures it out eventually. Until then, I'll be dining elsewhere.

I went to Ledge last night. We shared the tuna app. I had the sliced beef flat bread pizza. She had the scallops.

She loved the whole meal, and I thought it was sort of so-so. I will definitely go back and try something else.

Oh yeah, and they had FOX News and Bill O'Reilly on half the screens. *BARF*

We are absolutely against any showing of Fox News in Dorchester. :)
