Wow! This is great. I stumbled onto your blog by doing a search for Ashmont Grille. It's nice to read such positive things about our community. I've lived in DOT for nearly eight years, and unfortunately, people often associate Dorchester with crime and other negative things. I love living in Dorchester and celebrate the rich diversity of this neighborhood. Thanks for highlighting what's good in our 'hood.
Thanks Kim for checking out our blog... We think it would be awesome if other people wrote blogs about all the good things happening in Fields Corner and the other neighborhoods of Dorchester! Dot is such an awesome place it needs promoting.
I came across your blog while doing some market research for a start up. I've lived in dorchester since 1998, lower mills, 4 corners, now fields corner. I agree dorchester is dope, too bad so many people from outside of dot only see the negative press. Anyways to the reason I am leaving a comment, you both seem pretty in touch with the dot crowd. I was looking for your input in regards to whether you think Dorchester could handle a Cigar Shop/Lounge? I am looking for something around 1000 sq feet, in either Ashmont Hill, Savin Hill, Adams Village, or possibly Fields Corner. I am thinking something cozy, a good selection of cigars, and a beer & wine license. I would really want to focus on trying to get an after Dinner Crowd, from Blarney, Ashmont Grill, Shanti, D Bar, Venezia, Avenue Grill, etc..I think your feedback would be very valuable.
Thanks Kevin. We are glad you like the blog and we agree Dorchester is dope!
Hmm. A cigar lounge, huh? Well neither of us smoke cigars, although that doesn't mean people in the area wouldn't dig it. With the growing night life here, it could be something people would like... I'm not sure, but perhaps others who look at our blog would like to comment to help give you a better idea?
Kevin should consider contacting St Mark's Area Main Street (SMAMS) or Field's Corner Main Street (FCMS). The Main Street programs keep an inventory of space available and perform some business recruitment. Either of them may be able to assist with finding suitable space.
I love your blog! I work in Lower Mills and am wondering if you'd consider posting a link to my acupuncture practice? I'm just a hair's breath out of Dot. practically on the bridge over the Neponset River. Thanks.
Hi Daria. We generally only write up places we have visited and we have yet to go to your establishment, although perhaps in the future? Either way we encourage people to support local business, so if anyone is looking for acupuncture they now know a place to go!
What a great blog! I just wanted to say thanks for such a great resource - I linked to you from our website about a recently listed condominium (12Branchfield.com) and appreciate you providing so much information about the Lower Dot community to potential buyers. Thank you!
